A little history about Ridley Township - Originally settled in 1644 by the Swedes and then
the Dutch in 1655, the area was known as 'Amos land'. In 1682, John Simcock of Ridley,
Chesire, England, purchased some 2,875 acres from William Penn and named the area after
his hometown. Ridley was first recognized as a Township in 1687 and became a first class
Township March of 1906.

The Ridley Township Board of Commissioners is accepting resumes from qualified professionals for the position of Township Manager. The office is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and is authorized by the Pennsylvania First Class Township Code and any subsequent ordinances developed and approved by the Board of Commissioners. Applicants should have a strong business background highlighting at least 10 years of managerial experience, familiarity with government budgeting processes and union contract negotiations and administration, as well as working knowledge and understanding of municipal governance, operations and practices across all department levels. Interested parties should submit a cover letter, resume, salary requirements and three (3) work references via email to Robert J. Willert, President, Board of Commissioners, at email@example.com. Ridley Township has contracted with Loftus Construction, Inc. (856-786-6607), based out of Cinnaminson, NJ, to reconstruct the S. Swarthmore Avenue bridge over Stoney Creek. During construction, S. Swarthmore Avenue from Bridge Road to Fairmount Road will be closed for an extended period of time from January 6, 2020, to April 17, 2020. Detour signs will be posted.
