Ridley Township property owners will begin receiving their new assessment notice from the County of Delaware this week. This new assessment figure does not take effect until the 2021 tax year. Please keep in mind, Delaware County – not Ridley Township – determines your assessment.

If you would like to appeal your new assessment figure, you may call the County Assessment Office at 610-891-5695 to request an appeal form, or visit the County’s website – and file your appeal form no later than September 1, 2020. All appeals must be postmarked by that date.

The County Board of Assessment Appeals will schedule hearings on appeals and provide twenty days’ notice of the date, time, and place of the appeal hearing. Hearings will be held in person but will also be available remotely. All properties within the County have been reassessed using the same date of valuation: July 1, 2019. Your new assessment should reflect 100% of the market value of your property as of July 1, 2019. The Township has yet to receive a complete list of assessment of Ridley Township properties, so we are not able to let you know what similar homes may be assessed as for you to compare figures, and the township cannot, at this time, determine how your new assessment will affect your taxes. The township’s new millage rate has yet to be determined.

We do know, that you should not apply your new assessment figure to the township’s current millage rate, as the total tax amount will be inaccurate.

For the 15th anniversary of the award-winning PECO Green Region Program (which has provided more than $2 million in funding to preserve, protect, and improve open space), there was a "Bonus Round" of grants awarded to local municipalities. Ridley Township was honored to be a recipient of $10,000 for our tree planting project. We now have 19 new Sunset Red Maple trees and 1 Sycamore tree planted at Ridley Township Municipal Park. We were able to accomplish this via the hard-working efforts of our Second Ward Commissioner, Tom Donahue, and Peg Whelan, director of our parks and recreation department. We hope residents and the surrounding community enjoy the results of this project for years to come.
