April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

  • Apr 7, 2025

The Ridley Township Board of Commissioners reminds all drivers: One text or glance away from the road can change everything.

According to PennDOT, distracted driving continues to be a leading cause of crashes on Pennsylvania roads. Whether it's texting, eating, or adjusting the GPS, anything that takes your focus off driving puts lives at risk.

This month, we're joining efforts to raise awareness and encourage safe driving habits. Let’s commit to staying alert, keeping our hands on the wheel, and our eyes on the road. Your life—and the lives of others—depends on it.

April being a reminder to put the phone down really lands when you read the actual crash stats. Eyes off the road for five seconds at highway speed covers the length of a football field — that visual sticks with me. Modern safety tech genuinely helps, which is why I've been eyeing a new Chevrolet Culver City has in stock with features like forward collision alert and lane keep assist built right in. None of that replaces attention, but it adds a real safety net for distracted moments we all have. Thanks for sharing this — worth passing along to every driver in the family.

Distracted driving is genuinely one of the most preventable dangers on the road, and April being dedicated to raising awareness about it feels overdue. I drive a lot for work, and I've started paying way more attention to what's happening around me — not just other drivers on their phones, but also how visible my own vehicle is and how it interacts with road safety systems. That rabbit hole actually led me to research anti-camera license plate products, which are surprisingly popular among people concerned about surveillance and privacy while driving. It's a whole different angle on road culture that most people don't think about. Stay focused, stay aware — every second matters.
